Ray Signature Biography
Ray Signature, born Raymond Joseph Mugerwa on June 4, 1988, is a Ugandan singer, songwriter, and music producer from Kampala. He grew up in a religious family and studied at Buddo Junior School, Seroma Christian High School, and King’s College Buddo. He later pursued a degree in Fine Art at the Michelangelo School of Creative Arts.
His music career began in 2008 as part of the group Big Tyme, alongside Lary Chary and Oscar (Scar), under the mentorship of Silver Kyagulanyi. The group released tracks like Apple and Sophia but disbanded in 2011, prompting Ray Signature to pursue a solo career. His first major hit, Kasenyaku, earned both praise and criticism, with some alleging similarities to the song Me and You by Nigerian duo Bracket .
Ray Signature is also a renowned songwriter, having written hit songs for top Ugandan artists like Irene Ntale, Rema Namakula, Juliana Kanyomozi, and Lydia Jazmine. His notable compositions include Gyobera (Irene Ntale), Deep in Love (Rema Namakula), and Guno Omukwano (Lydia Jazmine).

Ray Signature has worked with several African artists and shared stages with acts like General Ozzy, Roberto, and Nyanda. In 2018, he signed with Storm Interactive and later joined NileOne Academy, where he released his EP Made in June, featuring the hit Mon Amie
